1. Scrape & Sand the Wall
- If there are flaking or peeling areas, scrape them away with a paint scraper or a putty knife. This will help create a smooth surface and ensure the new paint adheres properly.
- Sanding the wall with fine-grit sandpaper (around 120 to 150 grit) helps smooth out any rough spots and ensures a better grip for the new paint. If you’re sanding plaster or a previously painted wall, make sure to wear a dust mask.
2. Repair the Wall
Check the wall for any holes, dents, or cracks. Use Bluebird Wall Putty to fill these in. Apply the paste, smooth it with a putty knife, and allow it to dry according to the Product instructions. Once dry, sand the repaired spots until they are flush with the wall.
3. Primer Application
Applying a primer is crucial, especially if you’re making a drastic color change, or if the wall has stains or has been repaired. Primer helps in providing a smooth base and can enhance the paint’s adhesion, resulting in a more uniform appearance.
We recommend using Bluebird Wall Primer 3-in-1 for the best results.
4. First Coat of Bluebird Silglow Harir (with Trowel)
- The application of the first layer of Silglow Harir Texture paint involves using a trowel to create a criss-cross pattern, establishing the foundation for the subsequent coat. This initial layer sets the tone by adding depth and texture, allowing light to play across the surface. The criss-cross technique introduces subtle variations, enhancing the overall aesthetic and preparing the surface for the final coat, which will add additional richness and sophistication.
5. Second Coat of Bluebird Silglow Harir (with Brush)
- The second layer of Silglow Harir Texture paint is applied with a special small texture-making brush, continuing the criss-cross pattern. This technique builds on the foundation set by the first layer, adding intricate details and enhancing the texture’s richness. The use of a brush allows for greater precision and depth, creating a more refined finish that elevates the overall aesthetic, resulting in a visually dynamic and sophisticated surface.
6. Drying and Finish
The Silglow Harir Texture paint achieves its final look in just 1-2 hours, with a drying time of about 30 minutes for each layer. This efficient process allows for a quick transformation, as the texture dries rapidly, revealing its intricate criss-cross pattern. The speed of drying and the application of layers create a sophisticated finish, offering an elegant and textured surface that enhances any interior space with ease and style.
