1. Considerations

Before applying Bluebird Gloss Enamel, consider the following factors for optimal results:

Humidity: Ideal humidity levels should be below 85%. High humidity can slow down drying and may lead to a less-than-perfect finish.
Surface Condition: Ensure the surface is free from dust, dirt, and moisture. For exterior surfaces, avoid painting when rain is expected within 24 hours.

2. Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical for achieving a flawless, durable finish with Bluebird Gloss Enamel:

Cleaning: For wood, clean the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, and old paint. For metal surfaces, remove any rust or old paint flakes. Use a wire brush or sandpaper as needed.
Sanding: Lightly sand the surface to remove imperfections and create a slightly rough texture for better paint adhesion. For metal, ensure all rust and oxidation are removed.
Filling: Fill any cracks, holes, or dents with wood filler or metal putty as needed. Once dry, sand smooth to create a level surface.

3. Priming

Clean-up: Clean brushes, rollers, and other tools immediately after use with mineral spirits or a suitable paint thinner, as Bluebird Gloss Enamel is solvent-based. Dispose of solvents and rags safely to avoid hazards.
Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation during application and drying, especially for interior projects. Open windows, use fans, or operate exhaust systems to maintain airflow and disperse fumes.
Drying Time: Although the paint may feel dry to the touch after a few hours, allow at least 24-48 hours for full curing, depending on the weather conditions. For exterior surfaces, avoid exposure to rain or heavy moisture for at least 48 hours after application.
